Why Copper Sinks are Better than Stainless Steel Sinks

Looking to replace your tired, old kitchen sink?  Think about replacing it with a new copper sink.  Kitchen copper sinks have some benefits over traditional stainless steel sinks.  Copper sinks are beautiful.   Copper is a natural material that continuously reacts with its surrounding environment.  Patina, which is the name given to this property of copper, changes over time.  The factors contributing to this change include moisture, water solids content, and temperature.  While some people enjoy the changing natural patina, others prefer the bright and shiny new look.  To keep the sink looking new and slow the patina process, you can use a copper wax solution or sealant on the sink.

Copper sinks are the most sanitary sinks on the market.  Copper has a natural antibacterial advantage.  Bacteria have been shown to only survive a few hours on a copper sink whereas on a stainless steel sink, bacteria can last days.  This means that washing dishes or soaking vegetables is healthier when done in a copper sink.  So if you want a sink that changes over time and is more sanitary, choose a copper kitchen sink.
